About Us

A Magical Online Gathering

About two years ago Russell ordered a deck from the USA to be delivered to him in Portugal. He never received it. So he decided if he couldn’t get a deck he would make his own instead. Russell  wanted to use Norse mythology as the basis but soon slid down a runic rabbit hole.

Commonly, runes now come in a bag of twenty-four symbols etched on stone or wood. While in the runic rabbit hole, Russ discovered runes were used in many countries of Northern Europe and some those cultures created additional runes of their own.

Runes were an early alphabet system created to provide a means to write down and document the many and varied dialects in use during the Migration Period around the start of the common era. The runic alphabets were eventually superseded by the Italic alphabet that you’re reading now.

Rather uniquely for YouTube, Rob and Reem, other tarot readers,  share a friendship online. Russ asked Reem and Rob if they might like to help create a deck together based on the seventy-eight runes he had discovered down the runic rabbit hole. They were game and so it began. Each started ‘rune raking’ raw symbols on their YouTube channels to suss out messages and meanings. They even started doing live readings together. â€‹

We posted a raw, artless version of the rune deck online for subscribers to download and explore themselves. Patrick, another YouTube friend, began raking meanings from the symbols on his channel. This inspired other subscribers to do the same by posting their own videos from this primitive version of the Raw Runes deck.

For several months afterwards Rob, Reem, Russ and Patrick began to hone the deck into a more usable form.

Still in Portugal, Russ met Ædan a musician and artist who joined him travelling on to Mexico. Ædan started creating artwork that was perfect for the deck and so he flew home to concentrate on creating 78 images around the energies channelled from the Raw Runes.

While in Mexico, Russ started chatting with Cathy about the poetry created to honour the runic poems that are found in Norse, Icelandic and Anglo-Saxon traditions. Cathy became an essential part of what is now Our Collective Oracle.

The entire eighteen month project grew from traumedy to comedy, often drowning in blood sweat and tears or tickled by laughter. After the magical journey of editing this deck, the Elven Ring rang, and said, “Call me Liffruma”. And so the Liffruma Healing Oracle deck was ready to fully materialise, alchemising from the digital to the physical. Fifty decks were birthed and gifted so others could explore the Liffrumic frequencies.

Eve, Russ’ fiercest moderator, joined the team when her deck arrived and she began posting Liffruma readings her own YouTube channel.

As it currently stands, only Cathy and Eve have actually met in real life and that was only very recently. This entire project has been created online without any of the team in the same physical space together.

That’s what makes the Liffruma Healing Oracle so uniquely special, as you’ll find when you purchase yours.
